On March 11, Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. Thousands of people were killed and many more injured; almost half a million people are missing or homeless. Shock and sadness doesn’t even begin to describe the feelings I get when I look at images and footage from that devastating day. I know you feel the same. And today, less than 1 month after the massive earthquake that devastated Japan, they experience a strong aftershock that registers 7.1 on the Richter scale.
It’s easy to feel paralyzed by the devastation and confused about the best way to help, but leave it to my good friend Stacie, aka One Hungry Mama to come up with a way to rally people together to make a difference. Stacie together with Rachael Hutchings of La Fuji Mama and Marc Matsumoto of No Recipes created The Peko Peko Charity Cookbook for Japan. I am thrilled to be one of the 50 plus bloggers and cookbook authors donating a family friendly recipe to this amazing cookbook. When the book is released, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to a charity relief in Japan. Please visit the charitys website and find out more about how you can pre-order a cookbook and be a part of Japan’s recovery or to become a much needed sponsor. Peko Peko Charity can also be followed on Twitter and Facebook.
The time to help is now. Now more than ever, the Japanese people need our help to get through this crisis.
